Our Approach
At Newport Montessori School, we believe that children learn best when they are engaged in hands-on activities and have the opportunity to explore their interests. Our approach to education is child-centered and designed to foster independence, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
We believe in nurturing every child's innate desire to learn by providing an environment that encourages exploration and discovery.
Our Teaching Staff
Our school comprises a talented staff of Montessori-certified professionals. The school employs 10 classroom teachers and 4 specialists and works with numerous special educators.
Our goal is to create a warm, open environment where students feel safe enough to ask questions, explore and seek answers. We challenge every student to surpass his or her own personal best and help them over the hills and through the valleys of these growing years. Newport Montessori is particularly proud of its diversity and takes every opportunity to celebrate those characteristics that make us different. We welcome all who come through our door.

Tuition Assistance

Newport Montessori
More than 1,000 boys and girls have walked our halls since Newport Montessori opened in 2005.
Every day, to begin your student's school day, they will be greeted with a Montessori greeting as he/she enters the school building.

Our Newport Montessori School was deeply saddened at the passing of our beloved head of school, Christy Whipple, in July 2025.
Miss Christy was more than a gifted educator and administrator. She was a visionary leader who dedicated her entire career to education, and not only founded NMS, but also led the school for nearly 20 years with an unwavering commitment to the hundreds of students who passed through the doors. Her vision was to ensure students felt seen, known and reached their full potential. Her impact on the school community and the greater Newport community was enormous. Miss Christy was truly the heart of Newport Montessori, and to say she will be missed is an understatement.
Though there is much grief in our school community and we will miss Miss Christy deeply, her spirit will continue to be a guiding force for us at Newport Montessori.
