Not-for-Profit Primary and Middle School Offering Quality Education, Learning, and Teaching
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved head of school, Christy Whipple.
Miss Christy was more than a gifted educator and administrator. She was a visionary leader who dedicated her entire career to education, and not only founded NMS, but also led the school for nearly 20 years with an unwavering commitment to the hundreds of students who passed through the doors. Her vision was to ensure students felt seen, known and reached their full potential. Her impact on the school community and the greater Newport community was enormous. Miss Christy was truly the heart of Newport Montessori, and to say she will be missed is an understatement.
Though there is much grief in our school community and we will miss Miss Christy deeply, her spirit will continue to be a guiding force for us at Newport Montessori.
So many of you have also asked about services for Miss Christy, and we wanted to share that information with you. Visitation will be held at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home in Newport, NH on Thursday, July 17th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at South Congregational Church in Newport on Friday, July 18th at 11:00 AM, with a reception to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, Miss Christy’s family has requested that donations be made to the Newport Montessori School Tuition Assistance Program. Donations may be made at the link below, or also be sent to the Newport Montessori School, PO Box 634, Newport, NH 03773 with checks made payable to NMS TAP.
At Newport Montessori School, we approach each child as an individual with their own talents and one-of-a-kind needs. Our goal is to help your student meet the learning benchmarks for their grade using the following:
At Newport Montessori School, we believe that children learn best when they are engaged in hands-on activities and have the opportunity to explore their interests. Our approach to education is child-centered and designed to foster independence, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
We believe in nurturing every child's innate desire to learn by providing an environment that encourages exploration and discovery.
We wish you a wonderful summer and we will see you in September!

2025-2026 ETC Requalification application is now open!
Currently awarded CSFNH families may begin to complete their online ETC requal applications. The 2025-2026 ETC requal application was emailed directly to all eligible families on Monday, April 21st. The deadline to submit the ETC requal application will be Friday, May 30th. Although returning families receive priority, funding is limited and ETC awards are given on a first-come, first-served basis as ETC funding permits.
Families should add cspnh@scholarshipfund.org to their safe sender's list to minimize the chances of CSF's emails going into their spam/junk folder.
CSFNH will start approving 25/26 ETC applications in June. Once a student is "Approved" by CSFNH, the ETC scholarship award is assured as long as the student continues to meet all of the ETC eligibility requirements.
2025-2026 Education Freedom Accounts (EFA)

Thank you to the Jack & Dorothy Byrne Foundation for supporting our school's Spring Symposium Day of Professional Development Training March 28, 2025.
More than 1,000 boys and girls have walked our halls since Newport Montessori opened in 2005.
Every day, to begin your student's school day, they will be greeted with the Montessori greeting as he/she enters the school building.
Our school comprises a talented staff of Montessori & state-certified professionals. The school employs 10 classroom teachers and 4 specialists and works with numerous special educators.
Our goal is to create a warm, open environment where students feel safe enough to ask questions, explore and seek answers. We challenge every student to surpass his or her own personal best and help them over the hills and through the valleys of these growing years. Newport Montessori is particularly proud of its diversity and takes every opportunity to celebrate those characteristics that make us different. We welcome all who come through our door.
Thank you Adimab for your generous donation to our school's Tuition Assistance Program for the 2025-2026 School Year!
